Town Government

Notice: Governor Janet Mills issued a series of substantial new mandates to protect public health and safety in the face of COVID-19, including a Stay Healthy at Home directive that requires people living in Maine to stay at home at all times unless for an essential job or an essential personal reason, such as obtaining food, medicine, health care, or other necessary purposes.

Notice: Beginning Monday, June 1, 2020, the Town Office will open to citizens by appointment only for those who are unable to conduct municipal business online, through mail and drop box, or on the phone. Citizens are asked to wear masks and practice physical distancing. The Community Center will remained closed while the Stay at Home Order is in effect. The Transfer Station/Bulky Waste is open normal hours. Click here for the full notice.

  • Private Roads: Click here to review the proposed Winter Maintenance of Private Roads Policy with accompanying letter explaining how the policy has come about. This will be on the warrant for this year’s annual Town Meeting for July 2020. The Selectboard welcomes feedback on this policy. The deadline for comments has passed.   • Request Absentee Ballot for upcoming State and Municipal Elections. Ballots won’t be available until beginning or middle of June, however, we are still taking requests and they will be mailed as soon as they are available. Click here to request an absentee ballot.
  • Legal Notices: The Town of Casco will be placing all legal public notices in the Portland Press Herald until further notice.
  • COVID-19: A bill has been passed at the state level that contain provisions aimed at helping residents get through the current state of emergency.

  • Updated Casco/Naples Transfer Station/Bulky Waste Operations Manual: Includes new and old facility rules regarding stickers, use of facility, and consequences for failure to follow them. Please click here for the manual. An educational flyer is being created and will be distributed asap.
  • Attention residents of Casco! Like and follow us on Facebook at for updates, cool information, and more!
  • Water Testing: Two nearby labs (Maine Environmental Labs in Yarmouth 846-6560 and A&L Lab in Auburn 784-5354) charge $35 for Radon and $35 for Uranium. Both labs provide free test kits and instructions. A&L has kits available for pick up at the UPS Store in No. Windham and you can ship it back to CA&L free of charge from the Windham UPS Store.

Helpful information regarding Town Office services

Marriage licenses will be issued between the hours of Tuesdays from 11:30 to 6:30 and the other days 9-4. By Appointment Only. Please allow one hour to complete the application process. Printing off the intention form before coming in to the office will save time. Click here to view intention form. Please note: Do not sign the intentions form until it is submitted with the clerk.

If you are coming into the office for services that require a notary, please call the office to see if a notary is available (a staff notary is not always available during regular office hours)

Due to often lengthy transactions, we ask that you visit the office before 3:30 pm to be sure that the office staff can best serve you to process the below transactions:

  • New motor vehicle transactions
  • Motor vehicle transactions that have moved into Casco, from a former state
  • New Leased motor vehicle transactions
  • New commercial motor vehicle transactions

Municipal Elections

The town municipal elections has been updated. Please click here to see the latest. Once ther expand the Annual Town Meeting, Elections & Voter Registration section.

Town Meeting is expected to held at the Casco Fire Central Station on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 pm. Proper notice will be posted. Be sure to keep an eye out for the annual report. Be advised that Town Meeting may be pushed out further due to restrictions related to COVID-19. We will notify citizens as early as possible should that occur.

Property Tax Services

The Town of Casco is pleased to announce its participation in the Maine PayPort ePayment Property Tax Service. This 24/7 online service allows payment of current fiscal year real estate and personal property taxes by credit card. If you owe previous year(s) taxes, you will not be able to use this service.

Please note, Maine PayPort is a third party payment processor and there is a fee to use of this service. The fee is a minimum of $1.00 or 2.5%, whichever is greater.

RTP has been working closely with the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG), Maine Department of Transportation and the Public Health Program at the Opportunity Alliance (TOA) to increase the convenience and sustainability of this valuable service for the Lakes Region community.

A survey of over 400 Lakes Region residents, conducted by GPCOG and TOA this spring, indicated strong support for the service. One in six respondents noted that the lack of a vehicle, or reliable access to transportation, can be a barrier to employment for them. To read the full report on the survey, visit
